Both editions include the same 6 unique luminary cards illustrated by Carson Ellis. Choose the French edition if you play with French speakers or want bilingual materials; pick the English edition for a lower price if your group only needs English.
What's the same in both editions
Both the French and English editions of the Crane Wife Set contain exactly the same 6 unique luminary cards illustrated by Carson Ellis. Each card brings a different effect into play, adding new strategies and surprises to your Illimat games. The card artwork and gameplay mechanics are identical across both versions.
Key difference: language support
The French edition includes both English and French rule booklets, so it works for bilingual groups or French-speaking players who prefer reading rules in their native language. The English edition comes with only the English rule booklet. If you or your group are comfortable with English rules, the English edition saves you a small amount. If you need French rules or want to accommodate French speakers, the French edition is the clear choice.
Trade-offs at a glance
- Bilingual rules vs. lower price: The French edition includes both English and French rule booklets, while the English edition includes only English rules. The French edition costs slightly more (USD 8.28 vs USD 7.44). If you need French rules, the extra cost is worth it. If not, the English edition saves you money.
- Same gameplay, different audience: Both editions contain the same 6 luminary cards with identical effects. The only difference is the rule booklet language. Your game experience will be identical regardless of which edition you choose.
- Availability considerations: The French edition may be harder to find in some regions.
